Strain energy - In a molecule strain energy is released when the constituent atoms are allowed to rearrange themselves in a chemical reaction or a change of chemical conformation in a way that angle strain, torsional strain, ring strain and/or steric strain are reduced.
Strain gauge - A strain gage (alternatively: strain gauge) is a device used to measure deformation (strain) of an object. Invented by Edward Simmons in 1938, the most common type of strain gage consists of a flexible backing which supports a metallic foil pattern etched onto the backing.
Van der Waals strain - In chemistry van der Waals strain is strain resulting from van der Waals repulsion when two substituents in a molecule approach each other with a distance less than the sum of their van der Waals radii. Van der Waals strain is related to steric hindrance.
Strain (chemistry) - In chemistry a molecule experiences strain when in a chemical conformation there exist unfavorable bond angles or bond distances. Strain energy is released when the molecule can relax to a conformation with less strain or when the molecule interacts in a suitable chemical reaction.

Over a five day period, a team of experts attempts to defeat the virus known as the Andromeda Strain. Solutions-based approach to curriculum development and teaching innovation. Arm movement is further facilitated by the ability of the physics of deformation, stress and motion by analysis, simulation, graphics, and animation. Updated, with a user-friendly page layout, this new edition includes expanded coverage of joints, bearing and shear stress, experimental stress analysis, and stress concentrations, as well as naval architecture, biomechanics, robotics, and mechtronics. Two joints facilitate shoulder movement.
